  • Well done to our Year 5 book club!

    Wed 29 Jun 2016

This summer term, 10 pupils from Year 5 have been selected to take part in a Book Club with Mrs Atkins. Georgia, Emily, Daniel, Elspeth, Holly, Amy, Jamie, Grace, Alice and Jasleen have all read four books which have been shortlisted for the Warwickshire Junior Book Award (WJBA).

    The books are:

'The Astounding Broccoli Boy' by Frank Cottrell Boyce

'The Accidental Prime Minister' by Tom McLaughlin

    'Stonebird' by Mike Revell

'The Sound of Whales' by Kerr Thompson

Over the weeks, as well as enjoying the books they have entered competitions to design a new superhero; to draw their favourite character; decide what they would do if they were to become Prime Minister and to write a story inspired by characters in one of the books.

The ten pupils voted for their favourite book which was ... 'Stonebird' by Mike Revell.

Now we are looking forward to attending the WJBA ceremony on 12th July at the Royal Spa Centre, to meet the authors, find out the overall winner and discover if we have won any of the competitions.

Look out for an update including photos soon...

We are overwhelmed with the support given to our partner school in Bo! So far, as a school, we have raised nearly £4000 to help build them a new well! What a difference this will make to them.
